Bring on the bunting
Village Fetes wouldn't be the same without a colourful array of little cloth triangles (and a slice of Victoria sponge). So this year we've decided to try and create the longest piece of bunting in the world, with the help of local village fetes and you. Currently, the world's longest piece of bunting measures a whopping 1,504.72 metres (just under a mile long), but we reckon we can smash it, and all you need to do is make a little bit of bunting.
How to make some bunting:
Click here to download a printable pdf document of these instructions.- 1 - Gather together the below bits and pieces...
- 2 - Cut around a bunting template of 16cm x 20cm x 20cm (posh name for a triangle).
- 3 - Place this on your patterned cloth (old curtains are ideal, but please ask curtain owners' permission first).
- 4 - Cut around the paper triangle to make your own bunting. Tip : turning the triangle upside down each time will allow you to make even more bunting.
- 5 - Customise your bunting with fabric pens and decorative stuff should you so wish.
- 6 - Glue or sew your triangle on to the ribbon.
-some patterned cloth
-1 pair of scissors
-a length of ribbon
-some fabric glue or a needle and thread
-optional decorative stuff
What shall I do with my bunting?
We're going to assemble the bunting at the big innocent village fete in Regent's Park on Saturday 4th August. So once you've made your bunting, send it to us at Fruit Towers by 14th July (see address below), which gives us time to to put it all together. Send us as much as you like, and help us break the record. We might even get on the news if we're lucky.
Alternatively, you can bring it along to the innocent bunting stall at the village fete - more info to follow.
